Should people do goodness or not? (presentation)
In my opinion, people should do goodness. There are several reasons. For instance, blood kinship, reciprocity, human nature, social subconscious and so on. Today, I will discuss the reason of blood kinship.
Obviously, it is easy to be understood. We are all children of our parents and are reared by them. If there was no goodness among people, they wouldn’t rear us anymore. Could human continue propagating if all parents didn’t rear their children (or even babies)? I am afraid that the answer is no. And not only human but all animals will disappear if there is no goodness between parental generation and filial generation. So I can say that people should do goodness at least in the aspect of blood kinship.

Do people have goodness?

There is a question always existing among human. It is whether there is goodness among people. If it is, so why? In my opinion, it indeed exists. There are a lot of examples to support it. We can often hear about the hero who sacrifices himself to solve other’s lives. There are also some reports about that the mother closed to die in order to let her children alive during the earthquake. We are always moved to these stories which let us look inside the human nature and encouraging us to be helpful to the people around you. And there is the next question, which is why people are willing to do that?
Firstly, I believe it dues to the blood kinship. The fact that the mother would rather chose herself to die than her children is very convincing to this point. Actually, the evidences are just around. We are all the children of our parents. We are all taken good care by them and loved by them. They are always willing and ready to do anything they could for us. This kind of goodness or we can regard it as selfless dedication is just what I mention before---blood kinship, which can be explained that the children and the parents are blood relative. The parents sacrifice themselves in order to make sure their genes can remain and inherit.
However, there are still many cases that the people are altruistic while the one they dedicate to has no relationship with him. I think this kind of goodness can be considered under the category of reciprocity, which means that individuals are sometimes willing to be altruistic to someone now in the expectation that they will, in turn, be helped when they need it. It has two layers. The first is the most direct one. It means the real reciprocity between two persons (or more). In this regard, people do things for the other is looking forward to one specific return or the two sides have already framed what to exchange. The business or political cooperation is all this kind of issue. The other one is a kind of general reciprocity. It’s a kind of goodness that when people dedicate, they don’t think about what will be as return. They just do that according to a strong belief that they should do and they will get something. In fact, they don’t care about those that they are going to get. Those heroes are this kind of person.
Nevertheless, there are still some exceptions that people who don't show their goodness. And I also want to mention that the natural selection rules are correct and will always be the basic for all other rules.
In concluded, there is goodness among people based on the large chunk of evidences and it can be explained according to the blood kinship and the wanted reciprocity which are according to the natural selection.

Recently, one of the most bustling streets in Singapore, Orchard Road has just completed rejuvenation. People certainly discuss about whether it is nice or not. A lot of people complained that the country invested $40 million dollars. Nevertheless, there were only a few changes taken place. It was worthless and impractical. However, in my opinion, the government has done a good job. It was indeed needed to decorate the Orchard Road. On one hand, it was to improve the image of Singapore. On the other hand, carrying on some infrastructure construction could improve the quality of civilians’ life, also could provide more jobs, especially we are during the finical crisis.

However, in my opinion, the government has done a good job. It was indeed needed to decorate the Orchard Road. On one hand, it was to improve the image of Singapore. On the other hand, carrying on some infrastructure construction could improve the quality of civilians’ life, also could provide more jobs, especially we are during the finical crisis.
After makeover, many people seemed not pleased with the outcome. By the recent polled, we found a lot of complaints. Some grumbled that they didn’t think it was worth. They could hardly notice the differences. Some even ridiculed that for $40 million dollars, the government should have built a bridge across the road. The other unsatisfied people also indicated that some changes were impractical, for instance, the glass panel didn’t help pedestrians, contrarily it might get in the way when people walked at night.
However, in my view, it was worth to do this work. We all know that tourism always occupy a big portion of the economy growth in Singapore. Orchard Road is the primary shopping belt of Singapore. As a result, there are lots of tourists coming there when they visit Singapore, so it was a good idea to beautify it. And it was even urgent to do this work. In fact, we should regard it as an invaluable long-term investment which spent on the image of Singapore.
Also it was the work which should be done because of the dropping economy. Now, we are in critical time. The whole world is struggling in finical crisis. As a chain reaction, it leads to low consumption. The lower consumption causes the lower requirement which means the lower production is needed. Then a large number of productive forces are no more needed. The result is a lot of people become jobless and they become the big burden of government. However, by carrying out this work, not only solved a part of this problem but improved the infrastructure constructions.
In conclusion, I think doing such kind of work was worth and necessary. However, when it carried out, the government should ensure that the money was using in an effective way. After all, the money comes from the taxer. They have the right to see that their effort using in a proper way.
